The Alor Archipelago is a diver's paradise that remains blissfully uncrowded. With nutrient-rich currents from the Banda Sea, incredible biodiversity, and visibility often exceeding 30 meters, Alor offers diving experiences that rival the world's best.
1. The Cathedral (Pantar Strait)
A dramatic underwater pinnacle rising from the deep, covered in soft corals, sea fans, and sponges. Schools of fusiliers, trevallies, and occasional hammerhead sharks make this a world-class dive.
2. Clown Valley
True to its name, this site hosts an extraordinary number of anemones — and their clownfish residents. Over 6 species of clownfish have been documented here, making it a macro photographer's dream.
3. Mola Mola Point
During the cold-water season (August-October), this deep wall is visited by ocean sunfish (mola mola) coming up from the depths. A thrilling encounter with the world's heaviest bony fish.
4. Kal's Dream
A gentle slope covered in pristine hard corals, teeming with reef fish. Perfect for all levels, this site showcases the incredible health of Alor's reefs. Night dives here reveal octopus, cuttlefish, and Spanish dancers.
5. Babylon (Pura Island)
A current-swept point where pelagics patrol. Eagle rays, reef sharks, and massive schools of jacks are regular sightings. Strong currents make this suitable for experienced divers.

Getting There
Fly to Alor's Mali Airport (ARD) from Kupang. Alternatively, join a liveaboard departing from Maumere or Kupang that includes Alor in its itinerary.
